Dutch contractor Smit Salvage is carrying out assessments and stability analysis to make sure there is sufficient buoyancy on the 17,000-tonne semi-submersible unit, which ran aground on the Isle of Lewis off Scotland after a towing failure in heavy seas.
Compressors to aid the refloat operation are among equipment being airlifted by helicopter onto the stricken rig at its location at Dalmore beach near the village of Carloway on the western shore of the island.
