South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries has secured a 1.5 trillion won ($1.26 billion) contract to build a semi-submersible production unit to be installed as part of the second phase of BP’s giant Mad Dog project in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Samsung said on Thursday in a regulatory filing that it would build the new FPU for an unnamed “US client”, understood to be the UK supermajor.
