Joint venture partner Beach Energy revealed in its monthly drilling report the Cougar East‐1 well in ATP 1189 had intersected gas pay.
Beach did not state how much gas had been discovered in the well, saying only that it exceeded pre-drill estimates.
Cougar East-1 was drilled about 110 kilometres north-north-east of the Ballera gas processing plant and was the third discovery in Santos' five-well Windorah programme, with two wells still to be drilled.
