Joint venture partner Beach Energy revealed the Whanto East‐1 well in ATP 1189 had been cased and suspended after hitting gas pay “consistent with pre-drill estimates”.
Whanto East-1 was the fourth discovery in Santos' five-well near‐field exploration programme, following on from third well Cougar East-1 which also hit gas.
The fifth and final well in the campaign, Whanto West-1, which also lies in ATP 1189, is currently drilling ahead.
