Joint venture partner AWE revealed Monday drilling of the AAL-4X appraisal well had started over the weekend using the jack-up Raniworo in a water depth of 72 metres.
The well, which is expected to take 48 days to reach a total depth of 1232 metres and complete, will target the G sand reservoir which AWE said was estimated to hold 289 million barrels of oil in place with 36 million barrels gross recoverable oil.
