The rig has apparently been given a new lease of life by the state-owned operator, having recently been reactivated for well plugging and workover work after an earlier prolonged suspension of its charter.
A Statoil spokesman confirmed to Upstream that the rig, which is under contract to the client until June 2017, will drill the duo-lateral well at Byrding in the first quarter of next year with the job expected to take around 130 days.
