Australia-listed Petrel Energy, which holds a 25% stake in Schuepbach, said on Tuesday that ministerial approvals were received and two local drilling rigs have been mobilised to drill the wells simultaneously.
The company had originally targeted spuds in late May or early June, but the approvals process took longer than anticipated.
The probes will be drilled to estimated depths of 750 metres and 1250 metres on the Piedra Sola and Salto concessions, which cover 14,000 square kilometres in the virtually unexplored onshore Norte basin.
