Select Sands has closed on the purchase of a parcel of land in Arkansas  where the Toronto-listed company is eyeing an expansion of its sand mining operations to supply proppant for hydraulic fracturing.

Vancouver-based Select paid a little less than $1 million for a 457-acre Bell Farms site in north-east Arkansas, where it believes there are significant reserves of Northern White sand in the Ordivician-aged St Peter Sandstone formation.
