The London-listed explorer has secured drillship Ocean Rig Athena to sink a pair of appraisals, SNE-2 and SNE-3, at the SNE-1 discovery in the Sangomar Deep offshore block, with a further wildcat, BEL-1, targeting the Bellatrix prospect.
Cairn said in its half-year results statement the Senegalese government has now agreed to a recently submitted extensive evaluation plan that includes a 3D seismic survey on the acreage scheduled to start in the third quarter as well as the back-to-back drilling campaign set to kick off in the fourth quarter.
