The survey will cover three permit areas believed to contain Birkhead Formation stratigraphic and structural traps capable of hosting oil plays similar to those at the proven Growler and Snatcher oilfields.
Senex awarded a A$11 million ($10.8 million) survey contract to Perth-based Terrex earlier this year, it said.
