Joint venture partner Planet Gas said the Sprigg-1 probe was spudded on Sunday in the central eastern section of permit PEL 514.

The well is being drilled to a total depth of 2464 metres to test the oil potential of the Tinchoo formation up-dip and 240 metres west-southwest of the Reg Sprigg North-1 probe.

According to an independent report by auditor DeGolyer & McNaughton in late August, the Sprigg field is estimated to hold proven and probable reserves of 188,000 barrels of oil.
