Brazil's state-led company said that the BM-S-24 area has been sized up with recoverable reserves of 130 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Petrobras operates the area with a 80% stake with Portugal's Galp on 20%.

It lies 250 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state in a water depth of 2165 metres.

Sepia East is an extension of the original Sepia field, which lies in unlicensed acreage operated by Petrobras and was declared as commercial in 2014.
