The Norwegian floater technology developer is applying its trademark cylindrical design to the innovative rig concept under study work being carried out in a joint effort with the US supermajor along with Seadill-owned North Atlantic Drilling Ltd and Sevan Drilling.
Sevan is looking to steal a march on a rival so-called Category I drillship concept being developed by Oslo-based engineering house Inocean for Statoil to achieve the first deployment of a rig capable of extended operation in frozen waters.
