The Anglo-Dutch supermajor confirmed on Friday it was managing a leak in a flowline that serves the platform, 180 kilometres east of Aberdeen.
It said it had stemmed the leak “significantly” after a “light sheen” was noticed in the area on Wednesday.
However, the company has not yet given an estimation of the size of the spill or indicated for how long oil may have been leaking before action was taken to shut in a subsea well and depressurise the flowline that links the well to the platform.
