The Anglo-Dutch giant entered Equatorial Guinea's gas sector this year after acquiring BG Group, which had in place a 17-year purchase agreement for all liquefied natural gas produced by the EGLNG facility since 2007.

Under the agreement, the supermajor and the West African nation now plan to further their collaborations on projects in the region.

"The government has pledged to continue on this progressive path, and with the knowledge and experience of Shell, I am confident that this agreement will usher in new opportunities for investment," said Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, Equatorial Guinea's minister of mines & hydrocarbons.
