According to data seen by Upstream, well 21/30-27 was spudded by the semi-submersible Ocean Patriot on 7 September, with drilling completed some 26 days later on 3 October.
Industry sources said the well is currently suspended pending further analysis of the results.
“It looks positive,” one source with knowledge of the drilling told Upstream, although Shell declined to comment.
If eventually confirmed, positive results would come as a small but welcome boost to the depressed UK exploration scene.
