Infrastructure funds managed by First State Investments have bought the pipeline from MMC for NZ$335 million (US$228.3 million), Shell New Zealand said on Tuesday.
The future of the pipeline, built in the 1970s to transport gas from the Maui gas field off New Zealand, had been under consideration by the partners for some time.
It currently transports 78% of all natural gas produced in the country.
