Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell has chosen Noble Energy as its partner on two blocks off Colombia, with the US independent also set to operate the tracts, the country’s hydrocarbons regulator said on Tuesday.

Noble will also take a 40% stake in the Col-3 and Gua-3 blocks, which cover more than 800,000 hectares in the Caribbean Sea. Both areas were already licensed to Shell as technical evaluation areas, but were upgraded in to full exploration and production contracts earlier in March.
