Militant group Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) claimed responsibility for the attack in which Shell's Forcados export pipeline was blown up.
According to a statement from Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), signs of a leak were spotted between the shoreline and the Forcados terminal in the western Niger Delta.
The 48-inch pipeline had been shut since February because of another leak.
