Before being shut-in, Albian produced 250,000 barrels of oil per day. It is being restarted at an unspecified reduced rate because of improved conditions, including air quality and weather.
"Safe restart is important to our company and staff to allow us to contribute to the recovery efforts of the Fort McMurray area,” said Zoe Yujnovich, Shell's executive vice president for oil sands.
