Shell has identified eight upstream projects that are expected to progress towards a final investment decision in the next 18 months.

The Bonga South West deep-water floating production, storage and offloading project off Nigeria is joined by the Vito deep-water semi-submersible platform development in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Speaking to investors and media following the release of its second-quarter results on Thursday, Shell chief executive Ben van Beurden also name-checked two liquefied natural gas projects – Lake Charles LNG in Louisiana and Canada LNG – as likely contenders for sanction before the end of 2018.
