Deep Sleep, formerly named Stromboli, is thought to have been unsuccessful, though Shell would not confirm the results. The well, targeting a three-way Lower Miocene trap, was an offset to the nearby Vito and Power Nap discoveries.
Shell filed for a permit last month to permanently abandon the well and completed the operation about a week ago, according to Bureau of Ocean Energy Management records.
