Stones is expected to produce around 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day when fully ramped up at the end of 2017, the Anglo-Dutch supermajor said on Tuesday.
The project features "a more cost-effective well design" that requires fewer materials and lowers installation costs, Shell said.
The design improvements are expected to deliver up to $1 billion in well-cost reduction once all the production wells are completed.
