The US independent said Monday it had hired Petrie Partners to explore the sale of its Raven/Bear Den acreage. The package represents "effectively all" the company's Williston basin holdings outside of its Divide County programme.
SM Energy president Jay Ottoson said the company plans to "core up" its Eagle Ford and Permian basin assets in Texas.
The company recently bought Riverstone-backed Permian venture Rock Oil for $980 million,bringing its total Midland basin position to about 46,750 acres.
