The official death toll from Friday’s incidents, which occurred amid heavy sea conditions, remains at one.
However, Socar said that the search continues for dozens more and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said in a statement announcing a day of mourning on Sunday that the incidents had “claimed (a) heavy loss of life”.
Twenty nine people remain missing following the blaze on the Number 10 platform in the Guneshli (also referred to as Gunashli) field, Reuters reported, citing Socar first vice president Khoshbakht Usifzade at a press conference on Sunday.
