It is the third in a series of four sister midwater semi-submersibles to be delivered from South Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the Oslo-listed rig contractor.
The previous two units, Songa Equinox and Songa Endurance, have recently returned to work for Statoil at the Troll field off Norway after suffering blowout preventer issues - attributed by Songa to a “design fault” - that required lengthy yard stays.
