The giant field is just about to pass the milestone of 1.5 billion barrels produced, according to Statoil’s regional director for the eastern North Sea, Kjetil Hove, speaking at an event hosted by the oil major during OTC in Houston.
The ambition, through new enhanced recovery initiatives, is to squeeze another 600 million barrels of oil from the expansive thin oil zone that lies beneath Norway’s biggest gas field.
