Staff at Statoil are probably breathing a sigh of relief as the Norwegian giant has reportedly met its workforce reduction target after axing 5000 staff over the last four years.
The state-controlled company is now left with a global workforce of 21,105 and it expects to achieve a targeted tally of between 20,700 and 21,000 employees with further job losses in December and early in the New Year, a spokesman told local publication Stavanger Aftenblad.
