The Oslo-listed major plans to have a new operations centreopen in the Scottish oil capital by 2016 and is openly looking for localrecruits.

Statoil took a final investment decision on the Marinerfield, discovered in 1981, in December last year with UK Government fielddevelopment approval given in February.

"This is the largest newoffshore field development in the UK in over a decade. It has been 30 years inthe making, and now we are on track developing the field and preparing for 30years of production," said Lars Christian Bacher, Statoil's vice presidentfor development and production international.
