"We have shown that we understand the challenge and are taking action. Statoil's recent announcement of increasing our emissions reduction targets on the Norwegian continental shelf by 50% is a good example," Sverdrup said at the ONS conference in Stavanger on Wednesday.
"Norway's oil and gas industry has raised its target for annual carbon dioxide emissions cuts to 2.5 million tonnes by 2030.
