Statoil said Stausholm was resigning from his position as a member of the board to avoid potential conflicts of interests following his impending appointment as chief financial officer of Danish company Maersk.
It was revealed last month that Stausholm would replace Trond Westlie as Maersk’s chief financial officer from 1 December amid a restructuring of the company.
Statoil said Monday its nomination committee, chaired by Tone Lunde Bakker, would start the search for a new board member.
