The agreement, finally reached at 3am after the deadline was extended, covers workers at Shell’s Nyhmana plant, Statoil’s Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkoya island and ExxonMobil’s Slagentangen plant that is shut in for maintenance.
Nyhamna processes gas from the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea and supplies up to 20% of the UK’s gas needs while Hammerfest LNG on Melkoya island converts output from the Snohvit field in the Barents Sea to liquefied natural gas for export worldwide.
