The stoppage by 302 workers will initially hit handling of drilling waste, which means drilling operations will effectively be halted on some fixed and floating facilities to prevent emissions to sea, according to Industri Energi (IE).
The union will also take out computer engineers working on well monitoring and workers controlling remote-operated vehicles on Songa Offshore’s four Category D newbuild rigs that are working for Statoil on several fields.
