More than 1.81 million Latinos live within a half mile of existing oil and gas facilities, a figure that continues to rise, according to the study, which was carried out by the Clean Air Task Force, the League of United Latin American Citizens, and the National Hispanic Medical Association.
"Many Latino communities face an elevated risk of cancer due to air toxics emissions from oil and gas development," according to the report.
