After weeks of waiting for the fire to blow north-east away from the oil sands Suncor Energy announced it has finally begun the staged restart of its base plant mine, and Firebag and MacKay River in situ operations.
Third-party pipeline and power infrastructure critical to Suncor's operations has been restored and provincial health authorities approved the services and accommodations for camp employees to return to site.
