The shallow-water marine contractor said in a statement posted on its website on Wednesday that the board of directors made an application under the Companies Act "to wind up the company".
The winding-up application has been fixed for hearing on 19 August 2016, Swiber said.
"Additionally, the company had also filed an application to place the company in provisional liquidation," the statement said.
