Tag chief executive Toby Pierce said in a results conference call the company was having "several active conversations in Australia" and there are a variety of opportunities in scope and potential size, "but none are significantly advanced at this stage".
"We’re looking for conventional operated acreage where possible," he added.
All of Tag's current operations are in New Zealand's onshore Taranaki basin where Pierce said it produces about 1200 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
