Rowan reported a net income of $216.7 million in the three-month period compared to a income of just $84.7 million in the same period last year. The result included a $120 million after-tax increase for the Rowan Relentless contract termination, Rowan said.

Revenues increased to $611.9 million in the quarter compared to $508.7 million year-on-year, due to the aforementioned contract termination and contributions from the ultra-deepwater drillships Rowan Relentless,which commenced operations in June, and Rowan Reliance,which experienced lower levels of downtime in the second quarter.
