The Cayman Islands-registered company told the London Stock Exchange on Friday that its Doto appraisal well, formally known as AKD08, had reached a depth of 1368 metres and electric logs were run in the hole.

Tethys said while drilling in the shallower levels at a depth of about 600 metres, high levels of gas were encountered.

“These shows, together with the logs, indicate a potential gas discovery at the Tasaran stratigraphic level, as previously demonstrated to be commercial on test in the nearby AKK14 and AKK15 wells,” the company said in a statement.
