The company said the well had begun to flow at a rate of 220 barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which 87% was oil, and 160,000 cubic feet of gas per day.

The well will be connected for production to oil tanks and the gas pipeline in the next few days, Texon said.

Texon president Clifford Foss said he was pleased with the outcome, saying the well was the first step towards defining a potentially large deposit in the Mosman-Rockingham area.
