The two companies signed a letter of intent on 29 May that would see the 1554 tonne structure put together at Thai Nippon’s Bangpakong yard in Thailand.
The project is expected to be ready for load out by end of Sep 2013, Thai Nippon said.
The announcement comes two months after Salamander signed a deal with Atwood Oceanics for the use of the jack-up Atwood Mako rig across the area, in the Gulf of Thailand.
