Total and its partner, Johannesburg-listed junior SacOil, have just completed acquiring 244 kilometres of 2D seismic data in the northern part of Block III in DR Congo, away from the environmentally sensitive Virunga National Park.
SacOil said initial results appear positive, though data processing and interpretation will only be completed in the coming months.
One source suggested a debut wildcat could be spudded early next year if all goes well.
