Transocean has secured a drilling contract off West Africa with US independent Camac Energy for its presently idled semi-submersible rig Sedco Express.
Camac has chartered the rig to carry out drilling and completion of work on its Omo oilfield off Nigeria, with the contract covering up to three wells and carrying an extension option.
The Houston-based company said it would use the 2000-built ultra-deepwater unit to tie in production from a pair of development wells at the field in licence OML 120 and is also considering deploying it to accelerate an exploration campaign lined up for next year.
