Parliament’s transport select committee has “indicated interest” in holding a one-day hearing at which bosses of the Switzerland-based rig giant could be called to give account for the incident, Western Isles MP Angus MacNeil was quoted as saying on the BBC’s news site.
The 17,000-tonne rig ran aground on the Isle of Lewis after a failed towing operation in stormy seas, resulting in a rupture to its fuel tanks that led to a diesel spillage at the site of the grounding in Dalmore Bay on the western side of the island.
