A previous effort to move the 17,000-tonne rig from its present location in Broad Bay, Isle of Lewis had to be aborted last week due to adverse sea and weather conditions.
The UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) said in a statement on Wednesday the salvage authorities have given the go-ahead for the renewed effort to load the rig onto Offshore Heavy Transport’s heavy-lift vessel Hawk given a favourable weather forecast over the next few days.
