The 17,000-tonne unit is now sitting onboard Offshore Heavy Transport’s vessel Hawk, which has been deballasted to lift the unit above the waterline, after the loading operation carried out at Broad Bay on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, according to the UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).
This apparently means the rig can be transported in an available weather window, averting the risk for rig owner Transocean of laying up the unit during the winter at the present site.
