It follows the UK independent’s recent decision to exit the Norwegian continental shelf, where it holds interests in 34 exploration and development licences, including a 20% interest in OMV-operated Wisting Central in the frontier Hoop area of the Arctic region.
ABG Sundal Collier analyst John Olaisen believes potential bidders for the assets could include state-owned Statoil, which already holds a 15% stake in production licence 537 that hosts the find, as well as Lundin Petroleum, Det Norske Oljeselskap and even US giant ConocoPhillips.
