Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak was quoted as saying by Reuters that work on the proposed gas export route to Europe via Turkey had been “halted”, though talks on building a nuclear power plant in Turkey remained open.
It follows the threat by Moscow of sanctions on Turkey – possibly including joint investment projects - in retaliation for the recent incident in which the Russian SU-24 aircraft was shot down for allegedly intruding into Turkish airspace, leading to two fatalities.
