The large Scarborough gas field off Western Australia has "development concept optionality" including floating LNG, according to part owner BHP Billiton.

The field has been the subject of exhaustive concept and design studies over the years, and floating LNG was the frontrunner until the current downturn and Woodside Petroleum’s purchase of a 25% interest in the project.

Geraldine Slattery, BHP’s asset president, conventional, said in a petroleum briefing that FLNG remains a concept option, as does a tie-in to existing onshore infrastructure, as does Scarborough serving as a hub for other stranded gas reserves in the area.
