Uganda’s government is hoping that a proposed new refinery to be built in tandem with the Total and CNOOC Ltd-operated Kingfisher and Tilenga oilfield development in the Lake Albert area will be up and running in 2023.

Front-end engineering and design work proper is now set to kick off on the proposed 60,000-barrels-per-day capacity facility to be situated at Kabaale in Hoima after the Kampala administration gave its ascent to a final configuration for the refinery devised by the Albertine Graben Refinery Consortium (AGRC).
